DRAFT MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PARISH COUNCIL

HELD ON MONDAY JULY 17TH 2012 IN THE VILLAGE HALL AT 7.30 .PM.

Councillors Brown, Edmonds, Lewis, Hytten Towell, 3 members of the public, Parish Clerk,

PUBLIC SESSION (SUSPENSION OF STANDING ORDERS)
  • Street Lamp at Church Piece. This has not worked for some years. EON been approached but advised that it was owned by EON.
  • There is also a tree in Church Piece which is growing into telephone wires. As the road is not adopted AVDC housing trust a responsible for tree maintenance and strimming.
  • Village Hall indicator sign being looked into by Village Hall Management Committee.
  • It was noted that when the Flag in the Hall grounds was flying it could not be seen due to the trees. It was suggested the Village Hall Committee be asked to move the flag pole to the other side of the hedge.
  • The road sign at Elm Brook has been knocked over.
  • Best Kept Village. There was no hope unless verges are kept tidy by property owners. Village inhabitants need to be encouraged to take care of their surroundings. Quotes have been obtained in the past
  1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES JUNE 25TH 2012
    Cllr Edmonds pointed out he had been absent. Proposed Cllr Hytten, seconded Cllr Mrs. Towell. Agreed as a true record.
     
  2. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
    Diverted footpath by the Old Bakery. This will be re-instated.
    Hicks Path hedge removal. This will be re-planted in September.
     
  3. PLANNNING APPLICATIONS
    Bernard’s Close demolition of garage and extension
    Site Meetings to be arranged at 6.30 Thursday 29th July
     
  4. VILLAGE PLAN
    The next Steering Group meeting to be arranged.
    Thames Water sewage lorries. The Water Board has been contacted regarding the damage to verges and will be contacted again. Work is still being carried out in the field.
    Bucks Recycling lorries are going through the Village. The Planning application was granted on the condition that the lorries did not go through Ashendon.
     
  5. HIGHWAYS AND OPEN AREAS
    Highways have been asked to advise the Parish Council prior to any tree works.

SUMMARY AND SUSPENSION OF STANDING ORDERS
  • Potholes have been reported on Road to Cuddington.
  • There is a crack in the bus shelter. Bus stops still not showing correct numbers. This has been reported to Arriva. Dumping of garden rubbish. Rubbish is being dumped over hedges on Farmyard Footpath. Rubbish sacks for Garden refuse are available, and recycling bins will be available in the autumn.
  • Hicks Path Hedging. The initial planning application was submitted including a commitment to replace the hedging after the fencing had been installed.
  • Light at Church Piece. This has been defective for some time. To be checked again.
  • Strimming of Church Piece verge is not being carried out.
  • Bus stop signs are still showing old bus route numbers.
  • Enquiries are being made by the Chairman to find out if it would be possible to re-instate a George VI phone box.
  • The Chairman suggested that the rates for grass cutting of the Green and other areas of common land by Mr. King be raised to £100.00 per cut. All agreed
  • A sign to the Village Hall has been requested
